Menzi Ndwandwe Bolsters Durban City's Promotion Bid

In their relentless pursuit of promotion to the South African elite league, Motsepe Foundation Championship side Durban City FC has secured the services of seasoned striker Menzi Ndwandwe on a loan deal.

Ndwandwe joins Durban City, formerly known as Maritzburg United, from Betway Premiership outfit Magesi FC. The 27-year-old has reportedly signed a six-month loan agreement with Durban City, the current log leaders in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Ndwandwe's Struggles at Magesi FC

Ndwandwe's move to Durban City comes after a disappointing spell at Magesi FC, where he struggled for playing time in their inaugural Premiership season. In all competitions, he made only three appearances for Dikwena tsa Meetse, including a Carling Knockout Cup match in which they upset Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.

Ndwandwe played limited minutes in the three games he featured in, including a Carling Cup match where Magesi shocked Orlando Pirates 3-2 in the Round of 16. However, he only saw 47 minutes of action in total, all coming from the bench. This lack of playing time is believed to have influenced his decision to seek a loan move to Durban City.

Ndwandwe's Experience and Durban City's Ambitions

Ndwandwe brings a wealth of experience to Durban City, having played over 40 games in the SA elite league for clubs like AmaZulu FC, Bloemfontein Celtic, and Royal AM. Despite his limited goal-scoring record, with only three goals and two assists to his name, Ndwandwe is renowned for his talent and ability.

At Durban City, Ndwandwe aims to make an immediate impact, helping the team extend their lead at the top of the standings and secure automatic promotion to the Premiership. The KZN side currently holds a one-point advantage over second-place JDR Stars after 16 games, with nine wins, four draws, and three defeats.

Upcoming Debut and Related Story

Ndwandwe is set to make his Durban City debut in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 match against ABC Motsepe League side Lerumo Lions FC at Olympia Stadium in Rustenburg on Saturday.

In related news, Magesi FC has also strengthened their squad by signing an attacker from Sekhukhune United on loan.
